These Terms of Use ("Terms") govern your access to and use of the WastePays platform, operated by Ecoplastile Limited (registration number 80020002388682), of Namanve Industrial Park, Plot 3237 Sonde Road, Kampala, Uganda ("WastePays", "we", "us"). By creating an account — including via Google Sign-In — or using WastePays, you agree to these Terms.
You must be at least 18 years old and able to form a binding contract to use WastePays. You may register as an individual household client, or on behalf of a corporate office or business, using email/phone or by signing in with Google. If you register on behalf of a corporate office or business, you confirm that you are authorised to bind that entity to these Terms, and "you" includes that entity. When you use Google Sign-In, you authorise us to receive your name, email address and Google account ID from Google to create or match your account. You are responsible for keeping your account credentials secure and for all activity under your account.
WastePays connects clients — individual households and corporate offices/businesses — with collection agents for the collection of accepted materials, including electronics/e-waste, plastics, paper & cardboard, metals, used cooking oil, home appliances & scrap, and expired plastic cards. WastePays also provides related features such as points, a wallet, redemptions, and — for eligible agents — loan requests and repayments. Wallet funding and payouts are processed through one or more third-party payment partners, which may change from time to time, and are subject to those partners' own terms and any applicable transaction limits or checks.
Collected materials are processed or resold through our downstream partners — for example, plastics and paper/cardboard are typically sent to recycling factories, e-waste is refurbished in-house where feasible or otherwise sent for scrap recycling, and used cooking oil is processed into biofuel/biodiesel. Downstream routing and any indicative proportions (such as the share of e-waste refurbished in-house) reflect our current operations, are not guaranteed, and may change without notice.
Any fees applicable to transactions, payouts, top-ups, or loans will be disclosed to you before you confirm the transaction.
You agree not to:
We may request additional verification information and may suspend or decline transactions to meet our legal, anti-fraud and anti-money-laundering obligations.
You are responsible for removing or destroying any personal or financial data before handing over materials for collection — including wiping data from electronic devices (e-waste) and deactivating and/or destroying any expired bank, ID or similar cards with the relevant issuer. WastePays does not extract, read or store data from devices or cards submitted for collection, and is not liable for any personal or financial data left on materials you provide.
Loan features, where offered to eligible agents, are subject to separate eligibility, fee and repayment terms presented at the time of the request.
We may suspend or terminate your account if you breach these Terms, if required by law, or to protect WastePays, other users, or our payment partners from fraud or harm. You may stop using WastePays at any time, and may request deletion of your account as described on our Account Deletion page.
WastePays is provided "as is". We do not guarantee uninterrupted or error-free operation of the platform, and we do not guarantee returns, yields, or outcomes on any wallet, points or loan feature.
To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, WastePays is not liable for indirect, incidental, special or consequential losses, or loss of profits, data or goodwill, arising from your use of the platform. Subject to the carve-outs below, our total liability to you arising out of or in connection with these Terms is limited to the fees you paid us in the 12 months before the claim arose.
Nothing in these Terms limits or excludes our liability for: (i) fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation; (ii) gross negligence or wilful misconduct; (iii) death or personal injury caused by our negligence; (iv) unauthorised transactions or loss of funds held in your wallet caused by our error rather than yours; or (v) any liability that cannot be limited or excluded under applicable law, including mandatory consumer-protection rights under Ugandan law.
These Terms are governed by the laws of Uganda, without regard to conflict-of-law principles.
We may update these Terms from time to time. We will post the updated version here with a new "Last updated" date, and where changes are material we will provide additional notice.
